ReTHINK Your Coffee Habit

Coffee is one of the no-compromise areas of my life. A cup of weak or bitter coffee can ruin my day. My usual coffee fix is Columbian coffee I grind myself or a cup of Café Bustelo, brewed with my super-amazing drip coffeemaker.  I’d read all about the mood-boosting, cognitive enhancement benefits of functional coffee blends such as Think but was worried about how the coffee would taste. Would Four Sigmatic’s Think Lion’s Mane Ground Coffee measure up to its claims regarding increased focus and energy? Would the Lion’s Mane and Chaga Mushroom ingredients spoil the flavor?

The Super Coffee Zone

I started my trial by brewing a pot of Think Dark Roast Lion’s Mane coffee. One thing I like about Think coffee is that it is caffeinated and tastes a lot like traditional coffee. When it came to flavor and quality, it did not disappoint. It tasted just as one would expect from a high-quality Arabica organic coffee—rich, fresh, and robust in strength. It isn’t weak-tasting, harsh, or bitter and I could not detect the Lions Mane and Chaga Mushrooms.

Although I rarely add creamer, I added Think Vanilla Coconut Organic Creamer to my coffee to see if it was comparable to other creamers I’d tried in the past. The functional vanilla and coconut flavored non-dairy coffee creamer is infused with Lion’s Mane to increase one’s brain power and the calming amino acid L-theanine to boost productivity. The creamer does not easily dissolve so I channeled my inner barista and whisked it into my coffee using a handheld Frother.  The flavor is subtle and probably will not appeal to people who enjoy stronger artificial flavors, dairy-based creamers, or a much sweeter flavor. However, this is the only coffee creamer that I’ve ever enjoyed using. I never thought I would use creamer in my coffee but I’ve been adding Think Vanilla Coconut Organic Coffee Creamer  to my coffee because its creamy coconut taste enables me to cut down on the amount of sugar I add to my coffee. That has been a goal of mine for a long time.  It is also available in Cacao Coconut flavor.

Is Think Worth the Splurge?

I will not lie. Think coffee is pricy. I’m used to paying more for organic coffee but is this functional organic coffee truly worth the premium price? Let’s discuss. After using Think coffee twice daily for more than a week, I’ve decided that it is worth the buy and will be added to my go-to coffee shopping list. The reason?  Think is kinder on my stomach, tastes great, and boosts my energy-level without making me feel jittery. I haven’t used Think coffee long enough to judge its impact on increasing my focus and productivity. However, I feel good about its superfood ingredient list because I’ve noticed that many less expensive functional coffees are not organic and  contain artificial flavors and other unhealthy additives. Overall, Think Lion’s Mane organic dark roast coffee is a healthier coffee option that I’m happy to have discovered.
